Mineral Exploration Services in Uganda
Systematic, data-driven mineral exploration from archived data search through to ore reserve estimation — helping you de-risk investment and unlock Uganda's mineral potential.
What Is Mineral Exploration?
Mineral exploration is the multi-stage process of locating and evaluating mineral deposits beneath the Earth's surface. It combines geological science, geochemistry, geophysics, and drilling to progressively reduce uncertainty about a deposit's location, size, grade, and economic viability.
At ALOM Mining & Geohydro Services, we deliver end-to-end mineral exploration programs across Uganda. Our services span the full exploration lifecycle — from initial archived data search and desktop studies through geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, and exploration drilling, all the way to ore reserve estimation. Every program is designed to provide the reliable, bankable data that investors, mining companies, and government agencies need to make informed decisions.
With over 10 years of experience working across Uganda's diverse geological terrains and a proven track record in gold, iron ore, graphite, tin, and industrial mineral projects, ALOM is the partner of choice for exploration programs of any scale. Our Mineral Exploration Services
A complete suite of exploration services designed to take your project from concept to confirmed resource.
Archived Data Search
We begin every exploration program by gathering historical geological survey data, previous exploration reports, and archived records from government institutions and industry databases. This foundational step helps identify areas of known mineralisation, past drilling results, and geological anomalies — allowing us to target high-potential zones before fieldwork begins.
Desktop Studies
Our desktop studies involve a comprehensive analysis of existing geological, geophysical, and remote sensing data. By integrating satellite imagery, topographic maps, published research, and regional geology, our geoscientists develop a preliminary understanding of the project area's mineral potential, structure, and stratigraphy — forming the basis for an efficient exploration strategy.
Geological Mapping
ALOM's geologists conduct detailed field mapping to create accurate geological maps of the project area. This involves documenting rock types, structural features, mineralisation indicators, and alteration zones at the surface. Geological mapping is essential for understanding the subsurface geology and guiding subsequent exploration activities such as sampling and drilling.
Geochemical Sampling & Testing
We collect and analyse soil, rock, and stream sediment samples to determine the chemical composition of materials in the exploration area. Geochemical analysis identifies elevated concentrations of target elements, revealing hidden mineral deposits and defining anomalous zones that warrant further investigation through geophysics or drilling.
Ground Geophysical Surveys
Our ground geophysical surveys provide critical subsurface insights without excavation. ALOM employs methods including magnetic surveys, induced polarisation (IP), resistivity, electromagnetic (EM), and gravity surveys to detect variations in the physical properties of rocks. These surveys delineate geological structures, ore bodies, and mineralisation at depth — directly supporting drill-target selection.
Exploration Drilling
Exploration drilling is the most direct method of investigating subsurface geology and confirming the presence of mineral deposits. ALOM manages diamond core drilling, reverse circulation (RC) drilling, and auger drilling programs across Uganda. Our drilling services include program design, contractor supervision, core logging, sampling, and assay coordination to ensure high-quality data collection.
Ore Reserve Estimation
Once sufficient exploration data has been gathered, ALOM's specialists carry out ore reserve estimation to determine the quantity, quality, and economic value of a mineral deposit. Using industry-standard methods and geostatistical modelling, we classify resources in accordance with internationally recognised reporting codes — providing the reliable data needed for investment decisions and mine planning.
Selected Exploration Projects
A sample of mineral exploration projects ALOM has delivered across Uganda.
Ground Geophysical Surveys in Kabarole District
Conducted comprehensive magnetic and induced polarisation surveys across a 50 km² concession in the Kabarole District, identifying multiple mineralised structures that guided subsequent drilling campaigns.
Kabarole District, Western Uganda
Exploration Drilling in Kitgum District
Managed a multi-phase diamond core drilling program targeting gold-bearing quartz veins in the Kitgum District. Over 3,000 metres of core were drilled, logged, and sampled, resulting in a maiden resource estimate.
Kitgum District, Northern Uganda
Gold Exploration for Acholi Resources
Delivered a full-scope exploration program for Acholi Resources including desktop studies, geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and ground geophysics, leading to the identification of priority drill targets in a greenfield gold project.
Acholi Sub-region, Northern Uganda
Iron Ore Exploration in Kabale
Carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and ore reserve estimation for an iron ore prospect in the Kabale District, providing the client with a JORC-compliant resource statement for investor reporting.
Kabale District, Southwestern Uganda
